Would you like to gain some research experience on a volunteer basis, in the field or the laboratory in your area of interest?
School of Zoology offers short-term, in-house research experience placements to undergraduate students who are currently participating in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd yr Zoology program at the University of Tasmania.
You can volunteer for placement with a researcher working in your areas(s) of interest. As positions arise during the year and over the summer vacation period, you will have the opportunity to assist on the project. You gain valuable research skills, and experiences to help you make choices about your future.
Opportunities may include:
- Blue-tongued lizard blood sampling
- Fish population and water quality surveys
- Herpetological lab and yard studies
- Invertebrate sample sorting and surveys
- Marine/diving/boating projects
- Penguin and shearwater monitoring
- Sampling from fresh water streams
- Sea urchin collection and processing
- Tasmanian devil trapping
- Captive Tasmanian devil husbandry
- Zooplankton grazing experiments
