Dietary and foraging analysis of short-tailed shearwaters and little penguins.
The aim of my Honours project is to compare two sympatrically breeding seabirds, little penguins and short-tailed shearwaters, using stomach contents and stable isotopes information from blood samples.
Further to this, LTD loggers will be deployed on the shearwaters to give positions of individuals, so dietary information from both blood and stomach samples may be correlated to location.
I will then explore associations between the bird's foraging location, dietary information and physical factors such as sea surface temperature, ocean colour, and ocean wave height.
