KZA305 Scientific Diving :

Details of the new unit KZA305 Scientific Diving** are now available in the handbook

  • This is the only university unit in Australia that, in addition to the academic content, provides certification as an Unrestricted Scientific Diver (through the Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme), which is a formal 'occupational diver' certification that is recognised nationally and in other countries.
  • The unit focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of the safe application of scientific methods underwater by divers
  • It is a 12.5% unit that counts towards the BSc and BMarSci degrees, but does not count towards a Zoology major.
  • The practical component provides for hands-on experience with all the methods discussed in the unit, and each student will be required to demonstrate competency in each technique.
  • Offered in 2008 in semester 2.

Key Points:

  • ** This unit attracts an additional levy of $950 towards running costs.**
